|Dams for Patagonia|
An article has been published in Science Magazine about the mega-hydroelectric development threat to Chile's Patagonia. This article is particularly noteworthy because of the analysis that considers the potential impacts of both the massive HidroAysén project, as well as the proposal by Xstrata subsidiary Energía Austral to build another series of large dams in the region of Aysén. |HidroAysén Blasts Their Way Past Corporate Responsibility|
I am back in the Berkeley office of International Rivers after a exceptionally quick trip to Chile, including a whirl wind tour down to the Aysén Region of Patagonia. This trip was a productive and intense round of fact finding, meetings with partners, and media outreach--not to mention a chance to participate in a wonderful International Day of Action event.
