After a week of negotiations, the main conclusions of the World Peoples Conference on Climate Change and the Right of Mother Earth (Cochabamba, April 2010) have been incorporated in the document of United Nations on Climate Change, that now have been recognized as a negotiation text for the 192 countries which has been congregated in Bonn, Germany, during the first week august of 2010.

An article has been published in Science Magazine about the mega-hydroelectric development threat to Chile's Patagonia. This article is particularly noteworthy because of the analysis that considers the potential impacts of both the massive HidroAysén project, as well as the proposal by Xstrata subsidiary Energía Austral to build another series of large dams in the region of Aysén. El impacto del desastre sobre las comunidades, los centros urbanos, la infraestructura y la economía del país han puesto al descubierto la vulnerabilidad del modelo de desarrollo económico que se ha venido aplicando en las últimas décadas. Ha develado un Estado pequeño y precario, con poca capacidad de control y fiscalización y que depende de consorcios empresariales para garantizar el abastecimiento y suministro de servicios básicos a la población, al igual que la evidente secuela de agudización de la desigualdad y la pobreza.
